Surf Illumination, our community Christmas Tree lighting and holiday celebration will take place on Saturday December 7th from 3 until 7 PM at the St Johns County Pier Park in the Promenade.

We are delighted to be working hand in hand with the City of St Augustine Beach for the 16th straight year. The City’s Public Works Department does an incredible job transforming the park into a winter wonderland each year. The palm trees are beautifully lit with white holiday lights and the 14 foot Christmas Tree will again be placed in the center of the promenade. The Civic Association will again be organizing the family friendly activities including pictures with Santa and Mrs Claus, face painting, balloon twisting, bounce houses and more.

There will also be a dozen local vendors offering unique holiday gifts and more. The park will be filled with holiday music too. A complete rundown of all the events and schedule will be available soon at

The Civic Association began it’s fall meetings on September 19th when City Public Works Director Bill Tredik spoke to us about the many projects that are currently underway and offered insight on a couple of large projects that are on the books for the year 2020. Tredik advised the Mickler Road drainage project was about 85% complete. The remainder of the project, mostly beautification and sidewalk repair would be completed soon.

The City will be tackling a major repair and retrofit of drain lines on 11th street. Tredik advised there are several potholes that have been created by the failure of pipe connections. This project is set to be addressed next year.

The Civic Association meets on the 3rd Thursday of October and November. The meetings take place at the Art Studio (old City Hall at Pier Park) with doors opening at 6:30 PM and the meeting set for 7 PM. Refreshments are served.

In October, nominations will be made for the positions of President, Treasurer and Board member at Large. If you are a SABCA member and are interested in serving in any capacity, please contact our Executive Vice President Robert Samuels at 904-377-7813
