by ~ Bill Jones – St. Augustine Beach Civic Association

On Thursday February 20th, your St Augustine Beach Civic Association welcomes US Census Partnership Specialist Jennifer Pyle as our guest speaker. Mrs. Pyle is a local resident and a longtime government employee, and she will be dispelling myths and sharing information about the 2020 Census. In case you didn’t know, there are billions of Federal dollars that are spent based on the data collected. We hope after her talk you will be fired up about participating and enjoy a good comfort level about just how the data is gathered, shared and secured. The Civic Association meets on the 3rd Thursday of the month at the Art Studio (old City Hall) at Pier Park. Parking is still free, and refreshments will be served. Members and City residents are invited to attend.

Music by the Sea Planning Underway

The 18th season of the iconic Music by the Sea Concerts is just few months away. The series will again be held on Wednesday evenings beginning in late May and running though August. Sponsorship sales are going well. This year longtime sponsor Dave Hinton, owner of Longstreet Auto is adding to his contribution. Dave and his daughter are the owners of Pure Barre, a new studio where you’ll find a unique way to get fit. Staffed by highly-trained teachers, Pure Barre at US 1 and SR 207 features four group class formats that deliver an effective total-body workout focused on low impact, high-intensity movements that lift and tone muscles and improve strength, agility and flexibility for every body.

So please add Pure Barre to y list of local businesses to support. Also, back again 2020 are Longstreet Auto, and Gaye Jones / Annie-Mac Home Mortgage. The response to our MBTS survey was not much of a surprise. Over a thousand people responded and what we have been able to determine is something we knew already. People love MBTS and pretty much said that except for winter, our fans are ready to come to concerts almost any other time of year. Of course, the number of shows we can do each year is based entirely on money. Sponsorships, TDC Grant and donations from patrons make it all happen. If you’ve got a fundraising idea or an interest in becoming a sponsor, please reach out to us by emailing to sabcivic@yahoo.com.
