Congratulations to St. Augustine Beaches Cpl. Bruce Cline! Cpl. Cline received the Law Enforcement Commendation Award for 2022 from the Son’s of the American Revolution for his service and dedication.

St. Johns County Parks & Recreation Celebrates 50 Years of Service - Free public events planned in July for the whole family to enjoy.  July is also known as Parks and Recreation Month and this year the month coincides with a special milestone for the St. Johns County Parks & Recreation Department. July 11, 2022, marks 50 years since the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners passed an ordinance resulting in the creation of the St. Johns County Parks & Recreation Department. To celebrate five decades of service, St. Johns County has planned a month full of fun, family-friendly activities.


Hurricane Evacuation Zone Changes - Know Your Zone - Evacuation Zone Locator St. Johns County’s hurricane evacuation zones have been updated as a result of data improvements by the National Hurricane Center. The new zones are effective immediately. Those living in coastal, waterfront, and low-lying areas will see the most significant changes. In preparation for the Atlantic Hurricane Season that begins June 1, residents and business owners are encouraged to review the updated map to determine changes to their evacuation zones by visiting the County’s “My Evacuation Zone website” which provides evacuation zone information for St. Johns County addresses. Residents should take this opportunity to also familiarize themselves with appropriate evacuation routes. St. Johns County also encourages residents and business owners to prepare for hurricane season by reviewing the information provided here on the St. Johns County Emergency Management Website and making a hurricane supply kit.

St. Johns County Libraries Announce New Partnership with the Real Florida Reader Program: Now you can explore Florida state parks with your library card! The St. Johns County Public Library System has partnered with Florida State Parks, the Florida Department of State, and Florida’s Division of Library Services to offer library patrons access to Florida State Parks through the Real Florida Reader Program. Now through Sept. 12, 2022, SJCPLS card holders may check out a Real Florida Reader day pass for free admission for up to eight people at more than 170 participating state parks.

Humane Society Pin Up Paws campaign - The Pin Up Paws calendar contest ends August 13th, when the winners will be announced. It is our main fundraiser of the year, and is followed by a Pin Up Paws Auction and Pin Up Paws Party. Details for the entire campaign can be found at www.staughumane.org

     July 1 - Rare Musical Gems: Featuring the Guillaume Concession and Aurica Duca, violinist Aurica has been a member of the Jacksonville Symphony since 2006. She is currently Principal Second Violinist. She has received many awards for her virtuosity including First Prize in the Cronelia Bronzetti Violin Competition and the International Violin Competition of Brasov. She has taken First Prize in the Cornelia Bronzetti violin competition and the International Violin Competition of Brasov. Ms. Duca was the gRand Prize winner at the Paul Constantinescu International Competition in Romania. Augustine Music Festival Concerts are held at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine.      July 2 - Baroque to Romanticism: Featuring Songs of a Wayfairer and Emily Birsan, Soprano. The London Telegraph said of Ms. Birson, “…she sang with radiant delicacy.” The American soprano has shared her engaging skills with many of the world’s finest opera houses and orchestras, including the Lyric Opera of Chicago, the Welsh National Opera, the Edinburgh Festival and the Boston Lyric Opera. Augustine Music Festival Concerts are held at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine. Begins at 7:30 PM. Seating is free.     July 9 - DANCING STARS OF ST. JOHNS COUNTY IS BACK!: St. Augustine Community School of Performing Arts (SACSPA) is thrilled to announce their annual fundraiser Dancing Stars of St. Johns County™ is returning. Join in for a fun evening at Flagler College Lewis Auditorium on Saturday, July 9, 2022. Tickets at the door and at www.dancingstarsofsjc.com Student $15, General $25, VIP $55. The event includes a competition among local celebrities that pair up with professional dance instructors from Arthur Murray Dance Centers and perform in front of a panel of judges. Dancers compete for two awards: People’s Choice Award and Judge’s Choice Award, judged on points and the celebrities dance performance. Following the competition enjoy a pro show with the championship dancers of Arthur Murray St. Augustine and South Jacksonville studios.

    July 16 -  St. Augustine Country Festival & St. Augustine Craft Beer Festival: Features live country music, country food, fine crafts & country fashion exhibits, lots of beer & wine tastings, and more at the events field.

   July 18 - 22nd - 17th annual Paul Anderson Youth Home Bike Ride: Over the course of five days, five young men from the Home (which is based in Vidalia, Ga) will travel over 350 miles by bicycle on routes along the eastern coastline of central Florida, with a home base in Flagler Beach.The Bike Ride commemorates a foundational moment in the history of the Paul Anderson Youth Home when the Home's founder, the former Olympic gold-medal winner, Paul Anderson hopped on a bicycle and rode from Vidalia, Ga., 1,200 miles to Omaha, Neb., raising funds and awareness of the mission to give troubled young men a second chance through Christ. Now 60 years later, the Paul Anderson Youth Home celebrates more than 1,400 lives changed through a process of recovery, restoration, and redemption.

    July 30 - 10th Anniversary Saint Augustine Yacht Club Junior Sailing Program:

We are celebrating by having an event on Thursday, July 30 between 12 and 2 PM. We will have the young sailors out on the water and First coast news recording the event with pirates attacking the young sailors in a mock battle event. Please accept my invitation to attend and bring a camera if you wish. I will be there about 11:30 AM and staying through the event. I do believe it’ll make a great article for your summer edition.
