     April 1st - May 19th: SASIA Scholarship Grants - SASIA is excited to announce a brand-new scholarship opportunity for one of our students. Two longtime residents of St. Augustine South have fully funded a $40,000 scholarship for a graduating senior attending a private or public college/university and pursuing a STEM field of study! This STEM scholarship will be awarded to one community student and will be disbursed over a four-year period to be used for books, tuition, housing, or any other applicable fees. The student will be required to complete an application and must demonstrate financial need. More details to follow and other conditions may apply. In addition to this STEM scholarship, SASIA has funds available for other graduating high school students pursuing other fields of study. Applications for either program must be received by the SASIA board no later than May 19, 2023. No exception to this date will be made. The scholarship awards will be announced on Friday, June 9, 2023. As always, the student must reside in St. Augustine South and the student's family must be SASIA members.      April 13: St. Augustine Shores Annual Meeting - Homeowners in the Shores, watch your mailboxes! Packets will begin arriving at the end of March and they will have information about HOA dues, The Board of Director Candidates, and Election information. Please be sure to read up on the candidates for the Board of Directors and plan to attend the April 13th Board meeting. The candidates for the Board will be having a Meet and Greet from 5-6pm just before the meeting. This will be a great opportunity to meet those who are hoping to join the Shores Board of Directors. The Annual Meeting and Election will be held on May 5th at 10am in the Main Hall at the Riverview Club.

      April 24th: African American Studies Program: Flagler College’s Dr. J. Michael Butler, Kenan Distinguished Professor of History and Director of the African American Studies Program will deliver a talk entitled “June 18, 1964: The Arrest of 16 Rabbis in St. Augustine and Why it Matters” at The St. Augustine Waterworks, 184 San Marco Ave, St. Augustine, FL 32084, April 24th at 4 p.m. The Waterworks is being made available through the generosity of the St. Johns Cultural Council and the City of St. Augustine. The event is part of the Florida Talks program, a partnership between Florida Humanities and the St. Augustine Jewish Historical Society. It is sponsored in part by Florida Humanities with funds from the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Arts and Culture, the Florida Council on Arts and Culture, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
