In a political time, where it seems people were more interested in division and tearing down others, Rich O’ Brien served with dignity and respect.
Appointed in 2006 to the City of St. Augustine Beach City Commission, Rich served our community for 13 years. His service included 3 terms as Mayor and 5 terms as Vice Mayor.
Rich stated that “keeping Beach Renourishment in the forefront for renewal and funding” has been his proudest accomplishment.
Followed closely by protecting countless homes during the hurricanes by getting the sand filled at the dune line with the assistance of Governor Rick Scott.
Parking and maintaining the character of the residential streets are what Rich sees as the challenges for the current and future commissions.
Rich plans to travel and spend time with his wife Lauren and family. His parting words of wisdom to the next generation of community leaders,”Have plans and goals, but no agenda.”
Thank you, Mr. O’Brien, for your time and service to our community.
